Privacy Policy

How travelwriters.org collects, uses, and protects your personal data. Last updated: 3 May 2026.

1. Who we are

travelwriters.org is operated by eAsia Digital (“we”, “us”, “our”). We run an online directory connecting travel writers with publications, brands, and PR agencies.

If you have questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at hello@travelwriters.org.

2. What data we collect

We collect different data depending on how you interact with the site:

Writers (registered profiles)

Name, email address, website URL, professional bio, location, social media links, and publication credits — collected when you register or claim a profile via our self-registration and profile claim forms.

Buyers (publications, brands, PR agencies)

Email address — collected when you post a “writer wanted” listing.

Applicants

Name, email address, website URL, and a pitch note — collected when you apply to a writer wanted listing.

Newsletter subscribers

Email address only — collected when you sign up for our newsletter.

Scraped writer profiles

Name, bio, website URL, and location — sourced from publicly available information (including the IFWTWA directory and other public sources). If you appear in our directory and did not register directly, you may request deletion at any time via the /opt-out page. Requests are processed within 48 hours.

Cookies

We use a session authentication cookie (tw_admin_auth) for admin panel access only. Registered users receive Supabase authentication cookies to maintain their logged-in session. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies.

3. How we use your data

We use the data we collect only for the purposes listed below:

  • To operate the writer directory — displaying writer profiles to visitors and prospective buyers.
  • To forward contact requests from buyers to writers when a buyer reaches out via a listing.
  • To send transactional emails — including application notifications and listing confirmations — via our email provider, Resend.
  • To send newsletter emails to subscribers who have opted in.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your personal data for advertising or profiling.

4. Your rights (EU and UK users)

If you are based in the EU or UK, you have the following rights under the GDPR (and UK GDPR):

  • Right of access — you can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you.
  • Right to rectification — you can ask us to correct inaccurate data.
  • Right to erasure — you can ask us to delete your data. Writers imported from public sources can use the /opt-out page for immediate deletion requests (48-hour SLA).
  • Right to restrict processing — you can ask us to pause processing while a dispute is resolved.
  • Right to data portability — you can request your data in a machine-readable format.
  • Right to object — you can object to processing based on legitimate interests.

To exercise any of these rights, email privacy@travelwriters.org. We will respond within 30 days.

5. Data retention

  • Writer profiles — retained until deletion is requested.
  • Applications — retained for 12 months after the associated listing closes.
  • Newsletter subscribers — retained until you unsubscribe.
  • Admin session cookies — session-duration only; cleared when you close your browser or log out.
